Every Indian Film Industry is gearing up to beat the records of Baahubali but none is succeeding even Prabhas couldn’t beat himself with his latest outing Saaho. Recent Kannada Historical war film Kurukshetra which was touted as Kannada’s most expensive film with huge scale and starcast released and garnered positive to mixed talk but collections are no where near to their own industry flick KGF. Superstar Aamir Khan came up with Thugs of Hindustan and delivered his career’s biggest disaster. The likes of Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan don’t seem to conquer top place in Indian box-office soon.
Out of nowhere Classic Veteran Director Mani Ratnam making historical novel Ponniyin Selvan into a film which is based on the story of Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola. Though this film was pitched by MGR back in 1958 it somehow dropped due to unknown reasons. Likes of India’s biggest celebrities Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanbabu, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Keerthy Suresh, Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi joined the star cast of this film.
To make it a global project Mani Ratnam wished to rope in Telugu stars Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan or NTR in place of Karthi but none accepted the role says sources. One wonders why? And the reasons are unclear.
This film is going to start in December this year in Thailand. Let’s see if this film manages to break Baahubali in any way.
