Tollywood witnessed two blockbusters in July which are extremely opposite to each other in terms of genres and also two disasters.
OH BABY – Oh Baby is the remake of Korean blockbuster film Miss Granny – Story of a cranky 70-year-old who transforms into 24 and relives perfect life. Nandini Reddy made this film a joyous delight with settled emotions. Samantha delivered unarguably her career-best performance and Naga Shaurya did a decent performance. Theatrical rights were bought for 20 Cr, collected 17.50 Cr closing share making it a perfect blockbuster.
DORASANI – Debut film of Vijay Deverakonda‘s brother Anand Deverakonda, Dr.Rajasekhar‘s daughter Shivathmika and Director KVR Mahendra. From the first screening itself film got disastrous talk making it terrible memory for the team. Theatrical rights of this film bought for 2.60 Cr and collected 1.10 Cr share.
ISMART SHANKAR – Win-Win situation for both Puri Jagannadh and Ram Pothineni who struggled for Blockbuster. Ram Characterization, Attitude, Makeover, Performance everything was loved by Telugu audience especially in youth his style has become a brand. The soul of the film is Melody Brahma Mani Sharma’s Music and BGM, even few songs were played in festivals. By bringing 35.10 Cr share which is almost double the amount of theatrical rights 20 Cr, this film stood up as memorable blockbuster to the team.
DEAR COMRADE – Being second venture of Hit pair Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s after Super Hit Geeta Govindham expectations reached the sky-high but film couldn’t live up-to-the hype making it box office disaster even though it got mixed talk at few places. This film did a jaw-dropping Pre-release business of 33.60 Cr and collected 19.60 Cr closing share.
