As a part of a new section in Buzz Basket website – Tollywood This Month, a detailed analysis on January released films in terms of collections was given. Let’s see how well February releases Yatra and NTR Mahanayakudu fared at the box-office.
YATRA – Without much anticipation and promotions, Yatra got released on February 8th, 2019 and got a mixed talk from the first screening. The film is a biopic on two-time Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Late Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy. The main motive of this film is to show the incentives behind 1475 km walking tour in 2004 led by him to interact with people more closely. Director Mahi V.Raghav did a good job in narrating the script without any deviations but failed in showing the charismatic leadership of YSR. Malayalam veteran actor Mammootty essayed lead role, his gestures and slang with base voice were spots on. Shashi Devireddy and Vijay chilla produced the film.
NTR MAHANAYAKUDU – In TFI most prestigious projects list NTR Mahanayakudu stands one of them but it didn’t receive the applause it deserves despite the film being a masterpiece to a section of the audience. It disappointed major audience as the filmmakers didn’t show Legendary NTRs later life. Many criticized that the film is not a dedication to Sr.NTR but a platter of Chandrababu Naidu‘s good deeds. Krish Jagarlamudi directed the film produced by Sai Korrapati and Vasundhara Devi w/o Nandamuri Balakrishna. Balakrishna got into the skin of a character and literally lived his father, wondered whether sr.ntr relived. On the other hand, talented Bollywood actress Vidya Balan in the role of Basavatarakam did an extremely fine job in showing innocence and emotions. Nandamuri Kalyanram did a good job in his father Late Nandamuri Harikrishna‘s role. As Nara Chandrababu Naidu actor Rana Daggubati did a terrific job.
