Samantha Akkineni The Female Superstar of Tollywood getting a lot of compliments not only for her acting skills but also for her wise decisions and one such is remaking Korean Superhit film Miss Granny as Oh Baby! in Telugu. The film directed by Ala Modalindi fame Nandini Reddy released on 5th of July received lot of positive buzz even from 1st screening. Star cast includes Rajendra Prasad, Lakshmi garu, Jagapathi Babu, Rao Ramesh, Naga Shaurya and many.
Coming to the Story a 70-year-old cranky lady always shouts and nags at her daughter in law faces hatred from her and decides to move out of the house where she comes across a situation and turns into 24 year girl named Swathi and lives her life to the fullest but what made her go back to old age is rest of the story to watch. Nandini Reddy did a great job in writing and executing every little detail and made sure each and every character has a soul to it. She didn’t make many changes compared to the Korean version but did a small change of replacing magic with God to convince Telugu people which is well received by the audience. Samantha did unarguably amazing job behaving as 70 years old in her 24 which worked out hilariously. Veteran actress Lakshmi garu and Rajendra Prasad got into the skin of the character and lived it. Rao Ramesh, Naga Shaurya, Jagapathi Babu and the entire cast did their best.
Old hyper lady Baby (Lakshmi) and her friend Chanti (Rajendra Prasad) runs canteen and hilarious scenes between them, Rao Ramesh and his family entry, Hospital Scene, Baby transformation to Swathi (Samantha), Naga Shaurya Entry, Pre-interval.
Swathi reveals her transformation to Chanti, lovable Scenes between Shaurya and Sam, Concert, Emotional Climax, Naga Chaitanya Entry
Coming to technical stuff Cinematography looks pretty decent with good production values and a special mention to the designer of Samantha. Although Mickey J Meyer did a terrible job with songs he scored marks with BGM throughout the film. The film becomes a bit over melodramatic when it comes to the end where some scenes feel unnecessary. Run time of 2 hours 41 minutes is a bit too long for this film despite that there is nothing much to complain which makes Oh baby! a roller coaster ride of emotions and laughter which will be liked by every section of the audience.
